JFSA seeks volunteers for Home Beachwood Elderclass Delivered Meals and Horvitz Presents Musical Memories: YouthAbility Programs

Great American Songbook and Standards
ewish Family Service Association is seeking volunteers to deliver kosher home-delivered meals on Tuesdays and/or Thursday mornings. Volunteers pick up meals at Myers Apartments in Beachwood and deliver to elderly and disabled adults on the near east side of Cleveland. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a friend to share in the deliveries and friendly visits. Some light lifting and possible stairs. Volunteers will need a valid Ohio driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance. Volunteers are also sought as workout buddies for participants in JFSA’s Horvitz YouthAbility program for disabled and at-risk youth on Thursday evenings or Sunday mornings. Activities include walking, jogging, biking and stretching. Adults and minors welcome. RJC Discussion Group Meeting
he community is invited to attend a Republican Jewish Coalition Discussion Group Meeting on Sunday morning, January 18, at 10 a.m. Registration opens at 9:30 a.m. Isaac Yomtovian will be the speaker. His presentation is titled, ”The Roots of anti-Semitism, and Jewish Life in Iran.” The event will take place at Embassy Suites on Park East Drive in Beachwood. he next Beachwood Elderclass program will take place on Thursday, January 22, featuring Beachwood’s own Mark Grey and his North Coast Jazz Collectives. Appearing with him will be Cleveland based vocalist and flutist, Nancy Redd. Sponsored by the Beachwood Board of Education, Elderclass affords residents an opportunity for learning and entertainment in a high school environment. Excellent lunches, catered by the vocational culinary arts class, are $5 for Beachwood residents and $8 for non-residents, if space is available. Programs in the new community room are free and open to the public. Elderclass coordinator Mort Biel reminds attendees that lunch will be served in the Beachwood Bistro at noon with the program to follow at 1 p.m. in the adjacent community room. A bus will begin pickups going from the northeast corner of the parking lot to the front entrance beginning at 11:15 a.m. and ending at noon. The bus will return you to your car following the program. Please register for the lunch by using the flyer you will receive in the mail. If you are not registered to receive Elderclass monthly program flyers, please contact Marlene Dunger at the Beachwood Board of Education, 216.464.2600. Reservations will be accepted by mail only. No walk-ins for lunch. No reservations are needed for the program only.
