Fairmount Temple Adult Cultural Arts Series
n Sunday, January 25, George Roth will present “Stories to Tell,” a cabaret-style show featuring songs of Broadway. Roth has worked professionally in the theater as an actor, director and educator for more than 25 years. He was trained as an actor at Yale University and the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. In England, he performed in Brighton Beach Memoirs for the Royal National Theatre of Great Britain; and portrayed Eddie, the junkie thug, in the movie Batman. Here in Cleveland, Roth has acted in just about every professional theater in northeast Ohio. His favorite roles include David Malter in The Chosen, Yogi Berra in Nobody Don’t Like Yogi, and Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof. Roth’s proudest moment as an actor was playing Otto Frank, opposite his daughter, Olivia, who played Anne in The Diary of Anne Frank. At this cabaret-style performance at Fairmount Temple, Roth will be accompanied by Nancy Maier, a talented pianist, who is well-known as accompanist for Bill Rudman’s The Musical Theater Project. Don’t miss this special night of great entertainment and a delicious dinner! Enjoy drinks and appetizers in the foyer at 4:15 p.m., followed by a 5 p.m. performance, and dinner at 6:15 p.m. The cost is $24/member and $27/non-member. To register, please contact Susan Namen at 216.464.0607. The final program of this series, April 19, will feature singing sensation Nick Costa and entertainer Bill Pirie. Cultural Arts Series co-chairs are Bernice and Lloyd Goldman, Joan and Mort Rogoff, and Ilene and Allan Schwartz. These programs are made possible through the generosity of the Max and Ella Green Fund.
