Operation
Finale:
The Capture
and Trial of
Adolf Eichmann
Extended
Through
July 24
The Maltz Museum of
Jewish Heritage is extend-
ing Operation Finale: The
Capture and Trial of Adolf
Eichmann through July 24,
2016. "Fascinating, touching
and terrifying," one exhibi-
tion-goer shared on Facebook
after seeing Operation Finale.
"Absolutely a `must-see,'"
wrote another.
"Operation Finale" was the
code name for the effort to
capture Eichmann, responsi-
ble for transporting millions
to death camps during World
War II. The high-ranking Nazi
official was hiding in Argenti-
na when he was apprehend-
ed by Mossad agents in 1960
and smuggled out of the
country. Films, photographs
and 60 recently declassified
mission-related artifacts
encourage visitors to explore
the spy story's twists and
turns.

Mollie Goldman Included as a
2016 Winner of the 11th District
Congressional Art Competition
Congresswoman Marcia L.
Fudge (OH-11) is pleased to an-
nounce the winners of the 2016
Eleventh Congressional District
Art Competition. The Best in
Show/Grand Prize winner is
Nicholas Jarm of Charles F. Brush
High School. Nicholas won the
top honor with his silver gelatin
print work, titled "A Beautiful
Mind." He was among 26 total
winners.
Nicholas and winners from
each Congressional District
around the country will have
their artwork displayed for one
year in the Cannon Tunnel lead-
ing into the U.S. Capitol. A recep-
tion in their honor took place in
Washington, D.C. on June 23.
Congratulations also go to
Beachwood High School student
Mollie Goldman, who won 1st
place in the painting category.
Goldman has always enjoyed
arts and crafts of any kind. When
given art supplies, she would
use her creativity to make things
 beautiful things. Additionally,
she was often teaching friends
and doodling. According to her
mother, Jodie Goldman, "I would
find super drawings on scraps
of paper, all over the house
even on the kitchen table. Not
on paper, actually on the table!
Mollie went through phases,
one of which was her rose phase
and another being her eyeball
phase, where eyeballs were
everywhere!
Art is a huge part of Gold-
man's identity. It is how she
problem solves and quite
literally, how she view the
world. While most people would
snap a picture, Mollie recreates
meaning from her mind. "It is
such an incredible gift to be
able to share her perspective
in such unique and meaningful
ways," her mom added.
Goldman's favorite medium
are charcoal and pencil to create
portrait drawings. She was self-
taught until getting some direc-
tion from Heather Grano when
moving to Beachwood in the
middle of her 10th-grade year.
Overall, Goldman is a very
motivated student who will con-
tinue her education in a school
that has solid science, math and
fine-arts programs.
Being recognized as the
1st-place winner in the painting
category was an unexpected
surprise to Goldman. She admits
to being uncomfortable in the
spotlight, so it is ironic that she
won with a self portrait.
More than 230 works of art
were entered, showing the
extraordinary talent, depth and
artistic achievements of high
school students in the Eleventh
District. Congresswoman Fudge
extends her congratulations and
appreciation to all the students
who participated.
