Stone Gardens Residents
Pool Resources to Help the
Kosher Food Pantry
Something fishy was going
on at Stone Gardens in Beach-
wood. For the past month,
residents were busy collecting
tuna fish cans to donate to the
Kosher Food Pantry.
"Devorah Alevsky, director
of the Kosher Food Pantry,
spoke to our resident counsel
about the work her pantry is
doing," said Stone Gardens
resident counsel president
Alice Sayre. "She told us of the
need for protein to distribute
to needy Jewish families in our
community and we all agreed
we wanted to do something
to help."
With the support of their families, friends and Stone Gardens staff,
including activity directors Sarah Taub and Noah Budin, the residents
collected a whopping 108 cans of tuna, which were immediately
distributed to Kosher Food Pantry clients.
"All of us here understand the need to help others," says Al Gray,
former Stone Gardens resident counsel president. "Many of us have
been involved in philanthropy all of our lives, so when we were called
to serve, we stepped up to the plate."
Alevsky is overjoyed with the residents' contributions. "The number
of needy families we are serving grows each month and our greatest
need is to supply them with protein, along with the fruits, vegetables
and other goods we get from the Cleveland Food Bank and other
donors," she says. "We welcome donations of all kinds, especially fi-
nancial and volunteer services. No one in our community should ever
go to bed hungry. As Jews, we are committed to taking care of our
own, and our thanks go to the Stone Gardens residents who proved
just that."
